Bullet U.S Senate Committee on Indian Affairs Testimony

fairbanks I am honored to be a part of the Pueblo of Laguna Department of Education leadership as the 2010-2011 academic year begins. I am looking forward to building on past successes, continuous improvement and new endeavors.

My family and I are Ojibwe from the Red Lake, White Earth and Fond du Lac Indian reservations located in Minnesota. I have been an advocate of education for over 28 years, previously serving as an assistant professor for New Mexico State University, Native American Development Specialist for the University of Wisconsin, elementary school principal, Pre K-12 dean of students, middle and high school football coach, consultant to the Blandin Foundation and executive director of the American Heart Association for the states of Montana and Alaska.

Educational leaders have the sincere privilege of positively impacting not only our students, but also the communities in which our students reside. I am excited about our continued gains toward helping the Pueblo of Laguna community’s youth and adults reach their highest level of academic success. I look forward to serving the Board of Education, administrators, teachers and staff with the proper vision, high expectations and accountability in promoting and supporting a Department of Education-wide learning community.
